The vice mayor of the Trece Martires town in Cavite was killed in an ambush attack shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday.
A report on Super Radyo dzBB identified victim as Vice Mayor Alex Lubigan, who was attacked in front of the Korean hospital in Barangay Luciano at about 3:15 p.m.
An initial police investigation showed that Lubigan was on his way home during the attack.
Lubigan's driver and aide were wounded, police said, adding that the suspect on an SUV sped away after shooting Lubigan in an ambush the attack.
Police are investigating the incident.
